The American Paddleboad Company specializes in classic, hollow, wooden paddleboards. Simple plywood and cedar construction, the American Paddleboard measures 12’ long and 22” wide. Weighing in at 45 lbs. the AP is considerably lighter than the Tom Blake designs that inspired it.
The performance paradigm of a wooden watercraft is different than that of a polyurethane or extruded
polystyrene board. In my eyes the difference is analogous to the difference between a cd and a vinyl record. Both play sound, but the analog playback is more dynamic. Wood has a more dynamic “feel” than foam.
